Tyrone Area elementary and middle school students are participating in the annual track and field event this past week and next week. Fifth and sixth graders wrapped up their events on Wednesday and Friday, and the third and fourth grade will be participating next Monday and Tuesday. Results of all the place-winners will be published in The Daily Herald’s sports section, once compiled. The track and field event is always a popular end of the year event for the kids, that gives them a chance to compete against each other in a positive atmosphere. Long-time TAHS Boys and Girls Track Coach Tony Yaniello runs the event, with teachers and some of the high school track and field athletes assisting. The track and field days have a significant impact on the consistent success of the high school program, getting the kids interested at a young age. (The Daily Herald/Kris Yaniello)
