The Tyrone Hospital Development Council invites the public to attend its 7th Annual Tree of Light ceremony to be held on Monday, December 3 at 6 p.m. in the main lobby at Tyrone Hospital.
Each year the Tree of Light offers an opportunity to support Tyrone Hospital by making a donation and placing an angel on the Christmas trees located in the hospital’s lobby during the holiday season. The angels bear the names of families, individuals or businesses that are being honored. The angels may also bear the names of deceased loved ones who are being remembered.
The Tree of Light ceremony will include the lighting of an exterior tree. Brief comments will be made by Mr. Phil DeHaas, Vice President of the Tyrone Hospital Board of Directors; Mr. Walter S. Van Dyke, CEO at Tyrone Hospital and Mr. Randy Miles, Sr., Chairman of the Tyrone Hospital Development Council.
A spiritual message and blessing will be provided by Retired Chaplain Joan Smith. Students from St. Matthew’s School will provide vocal selections for the event. A reception with refreshments will be held immediately following the ceremony.
Individuals may purchase angels to display on the Tree of Light for a donation of $5 or more. All donations to the Tree of Light will be used to purchase trapezius bed assemblies for use on patient beds. The trapezius bed assemblies are accessories that hang above a patient’s bed. Patients grab onto the trapeze to change their position in bed and to provide assistance to get out of bed and into a chair. The estimated cost to purchase this equipment is $3,000.
Tree of Light donation forms are available for pick-up in the hospital’s main lobby, by calling 684-6348, or making an e-mail request to tyanchetz@tyronehospital.org.
