Jennie L. Bateman, age 88, of 230 North Allison St. Greencastle, Pa. and formerly a long time resident of 101 West Baltimore St., Greencastle, died at 8 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008 in her home.
Born April 11, 1920 in Harrisburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Susan (Lloyd) Esterly.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Bible Church of Greencastle. Mrs. Bateman was also a member of the Greencastle T.O.P.S. chapter and a member of the National A.A.R.P.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed doing ceramics, gardening and bird watching.
Her husband, Richard E. Bateman Sr. died on July 15, 2005.
Surviving family are two daughters, Elaine L. Keller and Edna M. Hammond, both of Greencastle, Pa.; one son, Richard E. Bateman Jr., of Greencastle, Pa.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and a son.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 2 at 10:30 a.m. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, Pa. with Rev. Glen A. Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Burket Cemetery in Warriors Mark, Pa.
