I-99 Antiques Gallery located at 1222 Pennsylvania Avenue is celebrating its 10-year anniversary in the community of Tyrone.
Owned by Janice and Don Marshall of State College, I-99 Antiques is located in a century-old refurbished furniture store which offers a unique multi-dealer gallery featuring quality antiques and collectibles.
Janice and Don bought the store on September 16, 1998. They were both teachers in the State College Area School District and are both now retired, which allows them to devote more time to the store.
I-99 Antiques is open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and if Janice or Don aren’t there, then their employee, Elaine Harper, is at the shop.
Janice said mostly people from out of town stop in the shop, and a lot of people from State College and Altoona also stop in.
“The people who come from out of town like the small-town atmosphere,” said Janice about Tyrone.
With 20 vendors, offering a variety of antiques and collectibles, anyone who visits the store is pleasantly surprised when they walk in the door.
“The most interesting thing is when people from Tyrone come in and say, ‘I never knew this was here,’” said Don.
Janice added that a lot of Tyrone residents don’t know what the store has to offer until they visit for the first time.
“A lot of people do say we have a nice variety of items here,” she added.
Janice is also very active in community activities and is a board member of the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce.

The building is also the location for other businesses, including Open Door Visions, Attorney John Ayers, Moore Counseling and Miles Financial Services.
There is a clock sales and repair shop in the downstairs section of the building, Keller’s Klocks, which is opened Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
