Mrs. Susan K. Wheland, age 65, of 555 Washington Avenue, Tyrone died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 11:40 a.m. at the ARHS, Altoona Hospital Campus. She was born November 24, 1942 in Clearfield, the daughter of Samuel and Isabella Fleck Swisher. She is survived by her mother, a son and two daughters – Samuel (Alvesta) Wheland, RD1, Tyrone; Laura (Bruce) Lingle, Tyrone and Patricia Wheland (Buddy) of Altoona.
Mrs. Wheland was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School, Class of 1960 and had been employed at Murata Electronics in State College, retiring in 2001. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. She was a member of Howard Gardner Post 281, American Legion Auxiliary which she had served as chaplain and currently was serving as the Post Service Officer.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. Private funeral service will be at the convenience of the family.
