Mrs. Kay E. Patton, age 50, of Altoona, PA died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 3:45 a.m. at her residence following a two year battle with cancer. She was born March 18, 1957 in Philipsburg, the daughter of Kenneth and Margie Hamer Riley. On May 20, 1978 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Tyrone, she was married to John R. Patton who survives. Also surviving are three children: Robert of Painesville, OH, Jonathan and Alisha Patton, both of Altoona; her mother and one grandchild, Jonathan’s son Zachary of Altoona. Also surviving is a brother Wright (Sofie) Riley of Tyrone, and a sister, Carmen Riley of Tyrone.
Kay was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School Class of 1975. She was co-owner of the Essence of Beauty Salon for a number of years, was a cashier at BiLo Market and a cook at St. Matthew’s School Cafeteria. She especially enjoyed her grandson Zachary and her hobby of handgun target shooting. All of her life she had a fondness for animals and over the years had monkeys, a horse and various dogs. She and John frequently took long walks in the woods where they enjoyed the beauty of nature and the animals.
Funeral mass for Kay E. Patton will be Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph Orr and Father Carl Spishak as con-celebrants. Interment will be in Bald Eagle Cemetery. Friends may call at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
