Stole gift cards
State police reported on March 4 that an unknown actor obtained the wallet of Megan N. Banks of Tyrone at an unknown location in Huntingdon County. The actor then removed multiple gift cards and used them to purchase items at Wal Mart in Huntingdon, and Best Buy in Altoona. The value of the gift cards were approximately $115. The incident remains under investigation.

Domestic disturbance
On March 13, state police were dispatched to a residence at RR3 Box 414 in Snyder Twp. in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon police arrival at the scene, Dawn Marie Clapper, 41, Tyrone was found with a swollen and lacerated lip. Through the course of the investigation it was learned that Clapper had been engaged in a verbal altercation with her son, Derek Allen Clapper, 18, Tyrone. As the argument grew heated, Derek Clapper allegedly punched Dawn Clapper in the mouth. After being struck, Dawn Clapper fell back and struck her head on a brick fireplace. It was at this time, Derek Clapper attempted to flee the residence to summon help. Dawn Clapper chased her son and upon catching him, allegedly struck him about the head with a closed fist. Eventually the son was able to free himself and flee the residence to a neighbor’s house to get help. It was at this time, he fled the scene on a four wheeler into the woods behind the residence.

Struck boulder
State police reported on March 13 that Luther D. McCartney, 90, Bellwood, was traveling south on SR 1001 in Antis Twp. A boulder was in the southbound lane and the right front undercarriage of McCartney’s vehicle struck the boulder. The vehicle then traveled diagonally across the roadway and came to rest on the east berm of SR 1001, facing south. No injuries were reported and McCartney was wearing his seat belt.

Lost control
On March 14, state police reported a one vehicle crash that occurred as Paige Valen Stott of Tyrone was traveling west on Hundred Springs Road. Stott lost control of her vehicle and traveled off the roadway and across the southern berm. After traveling off of the roadway, the vehicle struck a tree and overturned onto its roof. There were no injuries in reference to the crash. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Hunter’s Towing. Stott was wearing her seat belt, and was cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.

Fell asleep
State police reported on March 17 a one vehicle crash when Gloria Arlene Zang of Tyrone was traveling south on SR 550 (Hundred Springs Road) when she lost control of her vehicle when she fell asleep. The vehicle went off the roadway and struck an embankment. During the crash, one passenger was present in Zang’s vehicle, Brenda Kade Grazier, 4, Warriors Mark. Grazier sustained minor injury and was treated at the scene by Warriors Mark EMS. Warriors Mark Fire Police assisted at the scene. The vehicle was towed by Hunter’s Towing. Zang was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic. Both Zang and Grazier were wearing their seat belts.
