Tyrone Legion earned a split on Wednesday evening at Vets Field, picking up a 12-8 win over Park Furniture, in the completion of a game that had been suspended after six full innings earlier in the season and giving up three first-inning runs to ReMax in a tough 4-3 loss.
In the win over Park, Tyrone Legion had built up a 12-7 advantage before the game was halted and escaped the final at-bat with just a run added for the win that clinched the seventh seed, the final spot in the upcoming George B. Kelley Federation playoffs, which will begin on Friday.
In the first game, ReMax put up three runs in their first frame and added what would prove to be the winning tally on a passed ball in the bottom of the sixth.
Tyrone Legion came up with their usual late-inning rally, with the help of a home run by losing pitcher Jason Taylor and a double by Austin Barefoot, but fell a run short.
Barefoot was the only Tyrone Legion or ReMax player with multiple hits going two-for-three, with Tyler Golden and Aaron Cunningham adding one RBI each.
Taylor struck out three and walked three, while giving up just three hits.
Tyrone Legion (9-14), will play second seed Juniata VFW (20-4) in a best of three series, beginning Friday, with the winner advancing to the Kelley semifinal round.
