Residents living in and around the Tyrone community can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke.
The complete screening package now includes a new Heart Rhythm screening which checks for irregular heartbeat, a major risk factor for stroke.
Life Line Screening will be at the St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church on August 6.
The site is located at 1105 Cameron Ave in Tyrone. Appointments will begin at 10 a.m.
For more information regarding the screenings or to schedule an appointment, call 1-800-697-9721 or visit our website at www.lifelinescreening.com.
Pre-registration is required.
A stroke, also known as a “brain attack,” is ranked as the third leading killer in the world.
Screenings are fast, painless and affordable.
They help identify potential health problems such as blocked arteries and irregular heart rhythm, abdominal aortic aneurysms, and hardening of the arteries in the legs, which is a strong predictor of heart disease.
A bone density screening to assess osteoporosis risk is also offered and is appropriate for both men and women.
Register for a Wellness Package with Heart Rhythm for $149.
All five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete.
Life Line Screening was established in 1993, and has since become the nation’s leading provider of preventive screenings.

International high school exchange students are coming to study in the Tyrone area during the 2008-09 school year.
These students will integrate themselves into a Tyrone area family with the goal of experiencing American culture as an American high school student does.
In turn they will provide insight into their own culture.
STS Foundation, a non profit student exchange organization, is proud to help facilitate these relationships. They have been doing so for the past 20 years and look forward to finding new host families in Tyrone and connecting them with exchange students.
Students like Matthew, who is a 17 year old boy from Waitoki, New Zealand. He loves competing in field hockey matches and also enjoys playing soccer and rugby. He says he is eager to experience life in the USA.
Thea is a 16 year old girl from Bergisch-Gladbach, Germany who loves participating in tennis tournaments. She has played the piano since she was six and also sings in two choirs. She is attracted to the vastness of America and its geographical and cultural diversity.
They are both excellent students and will have their own spending money and health insurance.
The host family provides a separate bed, family meals and a safe environment.
If your family is interested in being a host family please call Lillian at 1-800-522-4678 or email at lillian@stsfoundation.org. For more information visit www.stsfoundation.org <http://www.stsfoundation.org/>.
