Lezzer Lumber All-Stars

Carmen Y. Riley

Carmen Y. Riley, 56, of Pennsylvania House, 2 W. 11th St., Tyrone died Friday June 20, 2008 at 9:50 a.m. at Altoona Center for Nursing Care.
She was born June 24, 1952 in Philipsburg, a daughter of Kenneth Eugene and Marjorie Ruth (Hamer) Riley.
Surviving are her mother of Tyrone, a brother, Wright and wife Sofie of Tyrone, nieces Shannon Riley, and Alisha Patton, nephews Bobby and Jonathan Patton and Kenny Riley and a great-nephew Zachary Patton. She was preceded in death by a sister Kay Patton on March 1, 2008.
Carmen had been employed for AT&T, Washington D.C. as secretary in government billing following 18 years service. She was previously employed at Chicago Rivet, Tyrone. She was a 1970 graduate of Tyrone Area High School.
Carmen was especially fond of and enjoyed being with her nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday June 23, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Norman E. Huff officiating. Interment will follow at Bald Eagle Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 7 to 9 P.M. and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.

Clarence Dean ‘Windy’ Weaver

Clarence Dean “Windy” Weaver, 51, of 1307 Washington Ave., Tyrone, died Friday, June 20, 2008 at his residence.
He was born May 11, 1957 at Long Beach, Calif. a son of Clarence Merryl Weaver and the late Connie Frances Imus.
He was formerly married to Brenda Dawn Kelley of Tyrone.
He is survived by three daughters and one son: Misti Jean Connelly (Ryan) of Warriors Mark, Brandi Imus Weaver (Joe DeStefano) of Tyrone, Curtis Kelley Weaver and fiancee Tyne Weston of Tipton, his companion Candy Lee Miller and their daughter, Mikenzie Mae Weaver of Tyrone.
Also, one grandchild, Parker James DeStefano, his father Clarence M. Weaver (Sharon Jones) of Port Matilda, twin sister Cindy Mostrom (Mark) of Iowa, Robert Sampson (Nancy) of Florida, Theodore Weaver of Iowa, Rhonda Olson (Dan) and Mark Genet of Florida, James Genet (Deb) of Arizona, Becky Beard (Chuck) of Port Matilda  and Donald Ohmit of Ohio.
Step-sisters Terri Decker and Patty Hieres of Pennsylvania, close friend, Josh Allen Grager of Tyrone and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Theresa Ohmit.
He was a graduate of Lock Haven High School in 1975 and served in the US Army. He was a member of the Port Matilda American Legion and 40 and 8 Club. He enjoyed time with children playing Hacky-Sack and pitching horseshoes and his collection of Snoopies.
He was last employed as Head Mechanic and Garage Mgr. at Handy Delivery in State College for over 15 years service.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Rev. Patricia Gable officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Presbyterian Cemetery, Port Matilda.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Guyer E. Candy

Guyer E. Candy, age 85, of Allentown, died Friday, June 13, 2008 in Southern Ocean County Regional Hospital, NJ.
He was born in Tyrone, the son of Russell C. and Ethel Elder Candy.
He was married 57 years in February to his loving wife Jane C. (Dinger) Candy who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Cathryn (Gilbert M.) Gaul of Cherry Hill NJ and Rebecca (Robert) Kirn of Belleair Bluffs, Fl; four grandchildren, Gregory and Cary Gaul and Jana and Peter Kirn and a sister, Louise Matt of Glenn Miss, Pa. A sister, Jane Gross, preceded him in death.
Mr. Candy was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Allentown.
He was a graduate of Tyrone High School, class of 1940 and of Penn State University.
He retired in 1985 from the Morning Call newspaper as the director of administrative services and held a variety of positions during his 32 years there.
He was a veteran of World War II.
He was an avid Penn State football fan, often traveling with his wife to both home and away games in their motor home.
He was a dedicated jogger and helped the YMCA running club to expand, influencing many other members to start running.
A memorial service for Guyer E. Candy was held Friday, June 20, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Asbury United Methodist Church, Allentown.

Priscilla R. Rhodes

Priscilla R. Rhodes, age 84, of Tyrone, died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 10:05 p.m. at Epworth Manor.
She was born January 9, 1924 in Sandy Ridge, the daughter of Blake and Leah Conser Royer.
On June 24, 1944 she was married to Elvin Rhodes who preceded her in death October 28, 1969.
She is survived by a daughter, Deborah, wife of Michael McClain of Duncansville and two grandchildren, Jonathan (Sabrina) McClain of Cincinnati and Ashley McClain of Hollidaysburg and one great-grandson, Aaron Christopher.
Also surviving is her mother, Leah Conser Homer, a guest at Epworth Manor.
She was preceded in death by a son Christopher “Dusty” Rhodes on April 20, 2004.
Also surviving are two step-sisters, Martha Williamson of Brandon, OR and Betty Hoffman of Phoenix, AZ and a special cousin, Lucille Gensamer of Port Matilda.
Priscilla was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, of the Gertrude Black Sunday school class, had served on both the Administrative Board and the Pastor Parish Committee.
She was a member of the Auxiliary of Howard Gardner Post No. 281 American Legion.
She was a graduate of Tyrone High School, class of 1941 and had been employed at the First Blair County National Bank and Midstate Bank, retiring in 1989.
Funeral service for Priscilla R. Rhodes will be Monday, June 23, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Dennis Gable officiating.
Interment will follow in Blair Memorial Park.
Friends will be received at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
