Martin Oil makes short work of Dick’s Pharmacy to stop skid

After dropping two games in a row, Martin Oil took advantage of three errors and five walks, combined with three hits of their own to bomb Dick’s Pharmacy for nine first-inning runs and then cruised behind a well-pitched performance by Trey Mock in a 12-2 five inning contest.
Martin Oil had only five hits, but four of them were doubles.
Mock scattered three hits, striking out four and walking five in four innings, to pick up the victory. Mock struck out Shane Gillman in the first with runners on first and second to end the inning and then his teammates sent 14 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first at Stadium Drive field in Bellwood. Nate Gray and Mock opened the frame with walks from Andy Lytle. Chad Coho dropped down a perfect sacrifice bunt and Lytle threw it away to allow Gray to score. Mike Albright ripped a double to score Jesse Davis, courtesy running for Mock. Nate Plummer walked. Alex Miller singled to drive home Coho, and Justin Miller was safe on an error. Adam Kovac knocked in a run with a sac fly, Alex Miller and Justin Miller score on two different errors and Coho doubled to the fence in right center to score Jared Coho, who had walked and Mock, who reached base on the error that scored J. Miller.
In the top of the third, Dick’s loaded the bases with no outs. Mock got out of trouble with a lot of help from Chad Coho at third base. First Coho grabbed a line shot in the air and raced to tag third base for an unassisted double play. Then Chad got the third out of the inning by gloving a foul pop for the third out of the inning, without a run being scored.
Justin Miller pitched the fifth for Martin Oil, getting himself in trouble on a single and two walks that loaded the bases with two outs. Miller fanned the final batter of the game on a called third strike to end the game.
In the third, Chad Coho walked and went to second on a throwing error, when Dick’s relief pitcher Craig Eckenrode tried to pick him off first base. Coho scored on an error on a ball hit by Plummer. Alex Miller doubled courtesy runner Dyllon Gorby to third base. Kovac’s second sacrifice fly of the game scored Gorby and sent Miller to third. Justin Miller and Alex Miller then worked a double steal with J. Miller taking second, while Alex Miller stole home.
“We still didn’t hit like we should be doing,” said Martin Oil manager Ed Davis. “Alex Miller had a nice day at the plate with two hits. We were able to take advantage of the walks and errors to score runs, but I’m not anywhere close to being happy about our hitting. Our pitch selection is bad, we need to get better quick.
“Trey Mock pitched a great game, not allowing any earned runs and coming back to keep runs from scoring a couple of times, when he pitched himself out of trouble.”

Last chance to register for Joshua House Juniors basketball clinic

For the third consecutive year, Joshua House and the J-House Juniors program will offer programs for children from first through sixth grade and their families.
Tonight is the last chance for kids entering fourth through sixth grade to sign up for the Joshua House Juniors basketball clinic.
Parents can register their children tonight from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Joshua House on 10th Street in Tyrone.
Enrollment is limited so interested individuals should stop by early to secure a spot.
Besides the basketball clinic, Juniors Director Tommie Murray is excited to be offering “specific interest camps” geared towards providing an opportunity for kids to experience the fruits of summer, in a safe and positive atmosphere.
In the past, Joshua House Juniors has offered an effective day camp for kids, but this year there will be a number of activities for interested kids to get outdoors and have some fun.
The Juniors program will also be holding a soccer camp, an outdoors adventure camp and a dance theatre camp.
There will also be Family Fun Nights for kids and their parents to get together and enjoy events such as a scavenger hunt, frisbee golf, and family olympics.
That’s what Joshua House and its Juniors program is all about. It’s a Christian-based facility, but when a child goes to soccer camp, basketball camp, or any summer camp, the J-House staff will be teaching the kids the skills of that specific camp, but underlying that will be the foundations of the Christian faith.
To learn more about the Joshua House Junior’s summer camps, events, camp dates and times, and pricing, visit www.joshuahousetyrone.org, or call 684-2032.
Emails may be sent to jhousejuniors@joshuahousetyrone.org.

Fifth annual fireworks at Chill N’ Grill benefiting Bald Eagle Volunteer Fire Co.

Five years ago, Scott Illig opened up a restaurant called the Chill N’ Grill, which has grown into a large business with its latest addition of Firehouse Pizza. To celebrate the five years of service to the community, Chill N’ Grill is having a fireworks display on June 28 at 10 p.m.
The fireworks aren’t the only attraction, however, as children and adults can win prizes and play games all day in the Chill N’ Grill plaza. All proceeds will be donated to the Bald Eagle Volunteer Fire Company for the hard work and dedication they put out for the community.
The Boomers, the band that rocks the Alleghenies, will be the entertainment for the night, as they will be rockin’ out with some 60s, 70s and 80s music from 7 to 10 p.m. The band is as excited for the event as anyone in the community and hopes that everyone can come check out the festivities.
During the day, kids can enjoy a blow-up maze and other games they wish to participate in. Anyone is welcome to come celebrate the five year anniversary at Chill N’ Grill, so pull up a lawn chair early and save a seat.
The Bald Eagle Fire Company is having a live demonstration of how they use the jaws of life on a wrecked vehicle to save someone around 7 p.m. and will also be showing off their latest tools on the fire truck.
Remember, there is limited parking so residents that live close may walk or watch the fireworks from their home to save room for the people who live further away.
Before the fireworks are set for display, a few patriotic songs will be played to honor the soldiers of America and the country itself.
“As owner of Chill N’ Grill, myself and Bald Eagle Fire Company would like to thank everyone inside and outside our community for their support when they visit the Chill N’ Grill,” Illig said.
“We want the community to come together and celebrate as one, have a great time and pray that the weather is decent.”
Brumbaugh Fireworks, Inc. are highly-trained professionals and ensure that everything will be safe with the communities cooperation. They plan to have a great display of fireworks for the public and wish that everyone comes out to enjoy the show.
Donations from local businesses are accepted to make sure that the community day at Chill N’ Grill is free to the public to hang out for fireworks, food, games, demonstrations and live entertainment.
The restaurant is open at the normal hours, so the public is free to come at anytime to hang out for the day.
