The Tyrone junior varsity football team only scored in one quarter at Gray-Vets Memorial Field on Monday night, but the Eagles made that stand for a 14-0 triumph over the St. Marys junior varsity.
After a scoreless opening quarter, the Orange and Black got a pair of short touchdown runs from first, Kyle Ripka for five yards, and then Zach Burke for three yards. Jared Templeton kicked the point after, following both scores.
The Tyrone defense kept the Flying Dutchmen JayVees off the scoreboard for all four quarters to record the shutout.
Tyrone evened their record at 3-3 for the season, with their third straight victory, after beginning the season 0-3.
The Golden Eagles junior varsity will travel to Philipsburg on Monday to battle the Philipsburg-Osceola junior varsity at 6 p.m.
