The Tyrone Area School Board approved the following agenda items at last night’s regular session:
• The awarding of the middle and high school Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning (HVAC) bids in the total amount of $2,982,500, which includes the base construction bid, No. HC2 alternate bid, and electrical bid for the project.
• The election of Josh Klausman of Altoona as Junior Varsity Boys’ Basketball coach at the stipend of $1,700 with no benefits; and the election of Earl Harris of Tyrone as Junior High Wrestling head coach at the stipend of $1,600 with no benefits.
• A contract with Urgent Care Center of Altoona to review and approve Special Education files for Medical Access reimbursement, on an as needed basis, at the rate of $60 per hour.
• The election of Michael Funicelli of Crest Springs, PA to the position of After School Detention Monitor, Monday-Thursday, one hour per day, at the rate of $18.39 per hour, funded by the district with no benefits.
• Acceptance of resignations from full-time daily substitute, Joshua D. Hicks, effective October 29, 2008, as well as eighth grade Class Advisor, Geraldine Morrissey, effective October 31, 2009.
• The election of April Marie Campbell of Port Matilda to the position of full-time substitute Guidance Counselor at the salary of $17,059 with five sick days, one personal day, and full benefits, effective for the second semester of the 2008-09 school year. Funding comes from Career and College Counseling Grant.
• The election of Ellen Ruggery of Altoona to the position of Health Occupations Mentor at the rate of $12.49 per hour for a maximum of 300 hours with no benefits for the school year. Funding is from the Perkins Grant.
• A correction in technology assistance contract with Victoria Aults of Tyrone, adjusting her rate of pay from $50 per day to $50 per hour, for a maximum cost of $2,000.
• The approval of transportation contracts for the 2008-09 school year.
