Konover And Associates of Farmington, Conn., announced over the weekend what rumors have been saying for weeks, that it sold the building that housed the former Ames Department Store in Snyder Township. Two companies actually have purchased the building along with 36 other shopping centers in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New England.
Edens and Avant, along with Samuels and Associates are the new buyers of the 32,000 square-foot Tyrone Plaza store, which closed earlier in February of this year. What will occupy the empty store was not announced. Samuels and Associates will have the responsibility of redeveloping, leasing and managing 17 of the jointly acquired centers while Edens and Avant will operate the remaining centers. The deal should be finalized by January 2003.
Edens and Avant based in Columbia, S.C. is the seventh largest owner of nonmall shopping centers in the country while Samuels and Associates located in Boston is one of the top retain leasing and development companies in the North East.
