Notebook
• Tyrone and Indian Valley played each other in the District 6-AAA consolation game last year, as well, with Valley defeating Tyrone 58-44 at Huntingdon Area High School. The Lady Warriors held Tyrone scoreless for a 12-minute span stretching from 6:34 in the third until 2:43 remained in the game to rally from seven points down. Alanna Daniels led Tyrone with 13 points while Mandy Laub scored 18 for Valley.
• While the Lady Eagles and Lady Warriors are two of the fiercest rivals in the Mountain League, they have met just twice in the post-season. Along with IV’s win last season, Tyrone defeated the Lady Warriors 62-45 in the 1994 District 6-AAA championship game, leaving the series even at 1-1.
• Tyrone is playing in a District consolation game for the third consecutive year and is 1-3 all time in consy games. Tyrone lost to Valley last season, Somerset in 2001 and Philipsburg-Osceola in 1995. The Lady Eagles defeated Central in the 6-AAA consy in 1996.
• A win in tonight’s consolation game would send Tyrone into the PIAA playoffs for the fourth time in school history and it would give senior Marie DelBaggio a legitimate shot at reaching the 1,000-point plateau for her career. The 6-0 senior, who has started for Tyrone since her freshman season, currently has 968 career points after scoring a game-high 23 against Lewistown on Tuesday.
HOOP NOTES: Hartman is averaging 14 points per game against Tyrone this season … DelBaggio is averaging 12 against Valley … Tyrone won in Burnham in December 61-47, handing Valley its first loss of the season … in two playoff games, Tyrone is averaging 17.5 turnovers per game.
