Adeena A. Harbst
This month held many musical performances from the middle and high school bands. The concert and jazz bands prepared for the end of the year concerts since March. Each concert was held in the high school auditorium to entertain the students, faculty, and community members who do not usually get the chance to attend such events.
The sixth grade band, middle school band, senior high concert band, and tuba/euphonium quartet, in addition to a few soloists, performed Tuesday, May 20th at 7:00 pm in the high school auditorium. The senior high concert band played such pieces as the three movements from First Suite in E flat, as well as Irish Tune and Rhapsody for Flute.
The show on Tuesday, May 27th included the middle school jazz band, Black and Orange jazz band, and Golden Eagle jazz ensemble. The middle school has just recently compiled their jazz band which often practiced after school. The Black and Orange band and Golden Eagle ensemble are comprised of high school students who auditioned and were assigned to one of the bands accordingly. These groups have practiced every morning during homeroom.
All bands except the Black and Orange jazz band are directed by Mr. Laird. Mr. Verzella directs the Black and Orange band which performed an extra show at Graystone Court on Thursday, May 22nd at 7:30 pm. The marching band marched in the Memorial Day parade May 24th, and the middle and high school concert bands will perform at graduation.

Throughout the year, the bands have held two concerts and the spring concert was the third. The Bands in Review concert was held in November and the winter concert in February. Mr. Laird enthusiastically adds, “We are great, the community and kids should some and support the bands. We have some really talented kids in this school. Support each other and join us for our concerts.”
