Charity Jean Harris
Once again one more school year has passed here at Tyrone Area High School. Graduation this year will be held on June 4, 2003 for all of the seniors who have strived through thirteen years of schooling.
The seniors are already looking to their futures. Many students question themselves and will keep questioning themselves: What can I do to make it in this world? What differences can I make? Am I making the right decisions? Is this what I want to do with my life?
When surveyed, the seniors’ plans for the future ranged from furthering their education, to serving their country, to being unsure what they want to do with their lives just yet. Out of the 128 seniors surveyed, 11 were not sure what they wanted to do, 11 planned to serve our nation in the armed forces, and 106 planned on attending some kind of a trade school or college.
The seniors agreed that of all the things they will miss—their friends are what they will miss the most. Some seniors mentioned a name of a favorite faculty member such as: Mr. Miller, Mrs. Patton, Mr. Shaw, Mrs. Lumadue, Mr. McNelis, Mr. Butler, Mr. Abbott, Mr. Plummer, Mr. Cherry, Frank “The Janitor”, and Nelly “The Lunch Lady”. Other students mentioned missing the daily routine, encouraging teachers, familiar faces, and the “maturity” of friends.
Although the seniors will be leaving the halls of TAHS behind, they will walk through many more doors and hallways in the future. They will leave impressions on the people they meet wherever they go. Graduation is not the ending to everything they know but a beginning to something new. Congratulations to the class of 2003.
