Maureen Wright is the most recent recipient of Tyrone Hospital’s Extra Mile Employee Award.
Tyrone Hospital grants the award on a quarterly basis to an employee who demonstrates exceptional performance.
Wright is a native and long-term resident of Tyrone and a hospital veteran with more than 22 years of service. She joined Tyrone Hospital in 1980 and over the years, has held a variety of positions within the hospital’s business function. She has held positions in central registration, data processing, admissions, and billing.
Currently, she is the hospital’s cashier and her duties include receiving and processing all incoming payments to Tyrone Hospital. She also provides relief coverage for central registration. Her duties often have her on the hospital’s frontline, a place where a “people person” with a huge personality like Wright’s feels right at home.
A graduate of Tyrone High School, Wright credits that fundamental education as laying a good foundation for her move into the business side of healthcare. Over the years she has had additional training and attended seminars to further develop her professional skills.
Wright said her career at Tyrone Hospital started with a job offer from Mr. Dan Ashcroft, a hospital administrator who retired last year. She said she will always be grateful for that opportunity to enter the healthcare industry and be part of the hospital family.
Wright said she is very proud of the level of attention people receive at her hometown hospital.
“It is an honor to join the ranks of hospital employees who have received the Extra Mile Employee Award,” she said. “I am committed to going the “extra mile” for our patients. They are our first priority and I see great value in the long term benefits of a good relationship.”
“The Extra Mile Employee Award is special because it is driven by hospital employee,” said Thomas Bartlett, CEO at Tyrone Hospital. “It is an honor to recognize employee like Mrs. Wright who have been singled out by their co-workers and recognized for exceptional performance.”
Recipients of the Extra Mile Employee Award receive a commemorative plaque, an extra paid personal holiday, and a letter of commendation for the hospital’s chief executive officer.
