The 18th Annual Farm/City Day held at Reservoir Park in Tyrone is scheduled for Saturday, September 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.
The annual festivities are still in the planning stages, but entertainment coordinator Amy Hampton said the committee is trying to make the shift from a day geared just towards adults to a more family and kid oriented event.
There will still be the traditional craft and food vendors for adults to enjoy. However, Hampton said a new addition in the planning stages for Farm/City Day is that the Reservoir Park Amphitheater will be enclosed to have one entrance and one exit for the kids to participate in a schedule of events throughout the day.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. a jungle bounce in the shape of a dalmatian will be set up for the kids to play in. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and then again from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. a dunk tank will be set up. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be a clown strolling through the park who can make 200 balloon shapes and who will perform a 20 minute magic show at 1 p.m.
The traditional children’s activities of Farm/City Day will still be in place like a petting zoo, hay rides and face painting. Also, the Tyrone YMCA will be offering games for kids from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Hampton said the day should offer something for everybody in the family so everybody can come out and enjoy Farm/City Day.
The Rotary Club of Tyrone is responsible for organizing the event. Co-chairs of Farm/City Day are Rose Black and Kelly Wike. Other committee members include: Carla and Rich Baumgartner, Bill Bell, Paul Espy and Bob Fink.
According to Rose Black, there are numerous vendors and activities that have already signed up or are planned for the event, including: food, crafts, farmer’s market, farm equipment display, baked goods, local company promotions, library book sale, paintings, and much more.
Black said there are vendors registered for booths at Farm/City Day from all around the area and that many non-profit organizations also register for the event as a fundraiser.
Booth locations around Reservoir Park are assigned on a first come basis, so it is important that interested individuals register as soon as possible. A map that lists all booth locations is available so that vendors can choose a booth location. The deadline for booth registration is September 6.
Also, the Rotary Club will have a new Farm/City Day T-shirt for sale, in which vendors may have their name printed on the back for a fee.
