Tyrone Fire Department Chief Jeff Watson and the state police fire marshal continue to investigate the cause of a structure fire that occurred Wednesday.
The fire, at the home of Timothy Paul Detwiler at 317 W. 18th Street, Tyrone, did minimal damage, according to fire Marshal T.L. Miller. He said the prompt response by Hookies’, Neptune’s, Bald Eagle’s and Tipton’s fire company kept damage to a minimal.
According to Miller, the structure, a two-story duplex with a basement and attic, had been unoccupied during the hours preceding discovery of smoke in the attic, which was discovered by the second floor tenant after her return home. There were no injuries caused by this fire.
According to Miller, the attic area sustained about $3,000 in damage.
The investigation is continuing and anyone with information regarding this blaze is requested to contact the PSP fire marshal at 355-6066 or 696-6158.
