Plans are moving forward to build a new, modern Christian music radio station to serve most of Central Pennsylvania. 89.1 WRXV, to be known as Real Music REV FM 89.1 will cover most of Centre, Blair, Clearfield and Cambria counties and will extend into Huntingdon and Mifflin counties, according the station’s official website.
On Thursday, July 17, the Federal Communications Commission granted Invisible Allies Ministries, a non-profit 501 (C) 3 corporation, a construction permit to build the new radio station. The station will be licensed to State College. The board of directors of IAM have started the process to put the station on the air, and the sign-on date will be announced at a later time. Stations have a year and a half to construct a new facility once it is awarded the construction permit.
The station will be classified as non-commercial and educational at the left end of the radio dial and will broadcast 4,400 watts of power at 335 meters above average terrain, which is equivalent to 30,000 watts of power. The station will air a contemporary christian music format appealing to young adults from the ages of 18 to 35 with a secondary target audience of youth and adults between the ages of 13 and 54.
According to www.revfm.net, the station’s website, it will play christian hit music from 6 a.m. Until 6 p.m. And then a mixture of Christian hits and modern rock from 6 p.m. Until 6 a.m. Featured artists include DC Talk, Michael W. Smith, Skillet, Bleach, Audio Adrenaline and Jennifer Knapp. Other featured music programming includes christian loud, metal and hard music, a trip down memory lane with music from the decades of the 70s, 80s and 90s, Interstate 80s featuring music from the 1980s and another specialty program with two hours of praise and worship music.
89.1 REV FM also plans to be involved in the area with live remote broadcasts from various community events throughout central Pennsylvania, and then plan to work with projects such as Angeltree, Prison Fellowship, and other service oriented community service projects.
The board of directors of Invisible Allied Ministries is President Michael Schomer, Revered James Schomer, Vice-President/Treasurer and Secretary Philip Thomas. Funds are being raised to build the facility and you can make your tax-deductible gift to Invisible Allied Ministries, 925 Houserville Road, State College, PA 16801.
