Maybe you’ve purchased the entire series and thought about putting them up for sale on E-bay.
Maybe you haven’t purchased the latest in the Tyrone collectable series, because you didn’t know it was available.
And maybe you have all four in the series and our waiting for more.
The Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce has introduced four hand-crafted collectibles so far and plan to continue to produce more in the historical series.
“It’s been a good tool to sell Tyrone and its history and we’ve been reinvesting in the series with the restocking of all four,” said acting Chamber Executive Director Rose Black. “It brings back a lot of memories for people when they purchase one. Some people buy the school building because of class reunions, and some people collect the entire set.”
The hand-crafted replicas of some of Tyrone’s most famous buildings are produced by a Pennsylvania-based company located in Bowmansville. Hometowne Collectibles takes vintage photographs and recreates the buildings painted in the structures’ original colors. So far the replica of The Villa Restaurant has been the most popular to date.
“Lori Eckert, who heads up this committee, called the company right after the shipment of The Villa arrived asking how quick can you get me another order,” said Black. “The company said that no one has ever restocked that fast before. We’ve re-ordered at least twice on all of them.”
Each collectable is signed by the artist and all of them feature a distinctive marking of a unicycle on either the front or the back of each piece.
So far in the series is the Pennsylvania Railroad Station originally built in the 1880s; The First National Bank Building, known as the Jones Building built in 1906; The 1911 Tyrone Senior High School; and the popular Villa Restaurant, which the Panasiti family opened for business on April 20, 1936.
So far, one new collectable has been introduced yearly and the committee continues to research others to add in the future.
“They’ve considered the Wilson and El Patio theaters, the pavilion at Reservoir Park and others,” said Black.
“They need quality photos so that they can be duplicated.”
All four in the series remain in stock at the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce on Logan Avenue in downtown Tyrone. The cost of each is only $15.00. Start your collection today and help the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce at the same time.
