The Bellwood-Antis Board of Supervisors met Sept. 9 with a full agenda, but talks centered most around the renovations soon to take place in the high/middle school auditorium and the improvements to the green space area located between the high school and Myers Elementary School.
Routine business was also conducted. The board:
•approved a number of fundraisers for the 2003-04 school year; 10th grade candy sale in October, student council apparel sale in the fall, volleyball apparel this month, 9th grade candy sale in March 2004, NHS school spirit fundraiser in fall and spring, FFA sandwich booth and HarvestFest on Sept. 27 and 28, and NHS Relay for Life Fundraisers including Boyds Bear Bus Trip on Nov. 8, HarvestFest booth on Sept. 27 and 28, Tag Days in Spring 2004, Basket Bingo in Spring 2004 and loose change collection in fall and spring;
•approved the public sale of excess items for Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003 from 8-11 a.m. A list of items will be provided at a later date;
•approved the appointment of Linda Cherry as a voting delegate in place of John Shaffer to participate in the PSBA Legislative Policy Council meetings;
•approved the following day-to-day substitute teachers: Vicky Zeoli, English/Communications, Penn State University, pending updated clearances; Megan Kessinger, social studies, PSU/St. Francis University, has required credentials and clearances; James D’Angelo, health/physical education, Lock Haven University, has required credentials and clearances; Marjorie Simons, early childhood education, PSU, has required credentials and clearances; and Deborah Knarr, bus driver, has required licenses and clearances;
•accepted the resignations of Erin Krug as assistant cross country coach for the 2003-04 school year effective Aug. 27, 2003 and Susan Nelson-Zong as middle school English chairperson;
•approved Cindy McConnell to work as a volunteer in the middle school for the 2003-04 school year. The appropriate clearances are on file;
•approved Jamie Forshey as middle school English chairperson for the 2003-04 school year at a stipend of $326.05 plus $25 per individual in accordance with the BAEA agreement; and
•approved the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act Policy and procedure manual as presented.
The next meeting of the Bellwood-Antis School Board of Directors will be its work session meeting beginning at 7 p.m. on Oct. 7.
