Last week, the Tyrone Borough Zoning Hearing Board gave permission to Reclamere Inc. to build a dock addition to the rear of its property on Pennsylvania Avenue.
“There are really two purposes for the addition,” said Joe Harford, vice-president of sales annd marketing at Reclamere, a company which disposes of computers and resells usable components and hardware. “First, it’s to address safety issues. Secondly, it will aid in working with the increased through-put of this company.”
According to Harford, the 576-square-foot addition will allow two tractor trailers and a 24-foot box truck to pull up and load or unload at the same time.
“This is a direct result of what has been happening with Reclamere,” said Harford. “We need to ramp up as our business continues to grow.”
Harford also said with the addition will come more jobs.
“We’re not exactly sure how many jobs we will create, but we know we’ll be adding at least one more full-time employee by the end of the year,” he said, “and possibly more will follow.”
Work on the project, which is estimated to cost about $25,000, is to begin promptly.
“We’re going to be digging the footers Thursday, laying block Friday and hopefully pouring the platform the following Monday,” said Harford.
Harford credits the continuous expansion to the media.
“I think people, with all the newspaper coverage and television coverage, are more aware that they can’t throw their computer equipment in the trash,” said Harford. “We’ve really gotten our name out there and people recognize what we do.”
Before moving forward with the project, Reclamere had to approach the zoning hearing board for a variance for the project.
According to Tyrone Borough Code Enforcement Officer Tom Lang, the variance from the borough’s rear setback was needed because the addition will have the structure 9 1/2 feet from the rear of the property. The current borough ordinance requires a 30-foot rear setback.
