This week in the Tyrone Area YMCA third/fourth grade basketball league DeGol’s (3-0) defeated Mark by Avon (1-2) 36-24 to stay undefeated. Joyner Sports Medicine (2-1) smashed Michaels Photography (0-3) 28-9, to remain one game behind DeGol’s after the first three weeks of the season. Frito Lay (2-1) downed Tyrone Elks Club (1-2) in the closest contest of the day 31-24 to match to remain in a tie for the second spot in the standings.
This week Tyrone Elks Club (1-2) will play Joyner Sports Medicine Inst. (2-1), DeGol’s (3-0) will battle Michaels Photography (0-3) and Mark by Avon (1-2) will play Frito Lay (2-1).
Games will begin at 10 a.m. on Jan. 3, 2004.
Registrations are now being taken for the fifth/sixth grade Basketball League. Registration ends Friday, Jan. 9. Draft Day is Sunday, Jan. 11 at 4 p.m.
Volunteer coaches are very much in demand for the fifth/sixth grade league. Interested people can call the YMCA ay 684-2740.
