Last evening, Snyder Township supervisors met for reorganization and regular meeting business.
Supervisor James Daughenbaugh nominated newly-elected supervisor Charles Diehl to serve as chairman, and supervisor James Chronister seconded the nomination. Therefore, Diehl now serves as chairman.
Daughenbaugh also nominated Chronister to serve as vice-chairman, and Diehl seconded the nomination. Therefore, it was passed.
Viola Dysart was nominated by Daughenbaugh to serve as secretary/treasurer, and Diehl seconded the nomination. Therefore, Dysart continues as the township secretary/treasurer.
Allen Gibboney was appointed as township solicitor, and Engineering Architecture and Design Services was appointed as township engineer.
It was passed to recommend to auditors to set the treasurer’s bond at $600,000.
It was also approved for supervisors to be working supervisors and that they will be paid quarterly for meetings. Helen Mengel was appointed as chairman of the vacancy board.
Residents were also appointed or reappointed to fill vacancies or expired terms on various boards: fire marshall, one-year term, Paul Morrison; Primary SEO, Bill Gohn; Alternate SEO, Elizabeth Matthews; Northern Blair Sewer Authority representative, Bob Shope; Agricultural Security Advisory committee, Jim Daughenbaugh; auditing firm for township records, Young, Oakes and Brown; Township Park and Recreational Board committee, Pete Spinelli; Northern I-99 Enterprise Zone board, Jim Chronister and Joy Bickle.
Also, the depository for township funds was appointed; township secretary Viola Dysart was appointed to deal with the employee pension fund; Dysart was chosen as the voting delegate for the State Association Convention; Dysart was approved to pay township bills such as emergency items and light bills without prior approval and 2004 holidays were approved.
The sum of $400 was approved by the supervisors to be contributed to the pensions of each eligible employee in January 2004 as per the September 13, 1993 meeting. Also, the meeting dates were set for 2004 as the first Monday of each month, alternating meeting times from 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
At last evening’s meeting, the members of the township planning commission were also chosen.
There are currently five members as per the ordinance that was passed.
The supervisors also decided to advertise to amend the ordinance in order to add two more members to the committee.
Thirteen individuals expressed interest in serving on the planning commission. However, the members were chosen from the geographic areas they live in so as to represent the township as a whole.
Those chosen to serve four year terms include Bob Ayers and James Thomas. Those chosen to serve three year terms include Martin Starr and Ron Kobak. Fred Thomas was chosen to serve a two year term on the planning commission.
