Later this year, the Tyrone Hospital will celebrate 50 years of existence.
To get the year-long event swinging, the hospital kicked off the year with a contest to select a slogan for use on printed materials and in promotions throughout its anniversary year. The slogan contest was open to members of the Tyrone Hospital family.
Hospital employees and members of the medical staff contributed 29 different slogans for consideration.
The slogans were reviewed by members of a committee formed to plan activities for the hospital\’s 50th anniversary year. Committee members include Melissa Miller and Sandi Stever of the board of directors; Walter S. Van Dyke, interim Chief Executive Officer; Carlos Wiegering, M.D.; Donna Carson, officer of the Tyrone Hospital Auxiliary; Ann Dillon and Robin Garman of the Tyrone Hospital Development Council; Tammy Emigh, director of Quality Improvement; Ken Gorman, director of Materials Management; and Theresa Yanchetz, director of Marketing.
The winning 50th anniversary year slogan to be used with the hospital\’s logo is, “Celebrating 50 Years – A Small Hospital with a Big Heart.”
The winners of the slogan contest are Abigail Becker of the nursing, cardiopulmonary, and laboratory departments and Phil Maceno of the maintenance department.
“The slogan I submitted sums up what I\’ve seen and experienced in my twenty years of working at Tyrone Hospital,” said Maceno.
Mrs. Becker said she submitted her slogan idea because 50 years of service to the community is something to celebrate.
“The hospital is also a local business that has been thriving for 50 years, that\’s also something to celebrate,” she said.
“The winning slogan is actually a combination of two slogans that were submitted,\” said Theresa Yanchetz, of the hospital\’s marketing department.
Therefore, the planning committee decided to split a $50 gift certificate prize. Becker and Maceno each received a $25 gift certificate to use at any Tyrone merchant.
