PORT MATILDA, Pa. (AP) — The last two residents of a nearly demolished trailer park refuse to leave, bringing construction of a new retail complex to a halt.
The building will be halted while the central Pennsylvania lawsuit seeking their removal is resolved.
Park Forest Centre, the developer that owns the apartments, is suing Michael Stewart and David Bolden of Patton Township, arguing that they are bringing the retail complex — slated to boast a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and Kentucky Fried Chicken — to a halt.
The two men say their trailers are in poor condition and won’t survive the move, said Park Forest Centre’s lawyer, James Bryant.
Local attorney Karen Muir, who represents the two men, said evictions weren’t done in accordance with the state’s landlord/tenant act.
