Iris M. Meekins Lannen, 82, of Harrisburg, formerly of Tyrone, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2004 in the Harrisburg Hospital.
Born on Aug. 27, 1921 in England, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Nellie Meekins. Iris arrived in the U.S. on June 15, 1946 and became a naturalized citizen on Dec. 8, 1953.
She served in the British Armed Forces and was a former member of the Tyrone Episcopal and Methodist churches.
She is survived by her son, Paul E. Detwiler of Gloucester, Va.; her sister, Peggy Johnson of England; and two grandchildren, Kristin Detwiler and Colin Detwiler, both of Williamsburg, Va.
Iris was remembered in a Celebration of Life Memorial Service held at the Ecumenical Community in Harrisburg.
