The Tyrone Area Senior High School majorettes have finished another season, this time bringing home first place honors in the 2004 Keystone Indoor Drill Association Blue Majorette Championships held in Hanover, PA on March 27.
The majorettes took part in eight competitions this season and placed first in all of them. This is the first undefeated season for the senior high majorettes since 1983.
At the championships, Tyrone had three schools in its division. Third place went to Northwestern with a score of 90.9; second place went to Bellefonte with a score of 90.95, and first place went to Tyrone with a score of 91.0.
The majorettes performed this year’s show to “Rockin’ the Paradise Theatre” by Styx.
Squad members include: Lea Morrissey, captain; Cori Oswalt, co-captain; Lindsay Johnson, Nicole Cartwright, Amanda Miller and Ashley Cowher. Lynsey Watters is the runner.
Squad instructors include: Wendy Ammerman, Christy Black, Kathy (Harris) Banks, Carol Riley and Kelly Ammerman. Drill design is by Tom Mitchell, and Merle Ammerman is the adviser.
The Tyrone Junior High majorettes ended their season with a second place finish at the championships in Hanover on March 27.
The junior high squad competed against two other schools in its division. Third place went to Northwestern with a score of 71.3; second place went to Tyrone with a score of 74.0, and first place went to Bellefonte with a score of 75.6.
The junior high majorettes performed this year’s show to “The Ride of Your Life” from the soundtrack “What A Girl Wants.”
Squad members include: Andrea Gurekovich, Casie Glashouser, Ashley Miller, Britany Koegler, Stephanie Bagshaw and Shauna McClellan.
Majorette instructors include: Missy Watters and Kristy Jackson. Drill design is by Barry Mallot, and the adviser is Merle Ammerman. Lynsey Watters is the runner.
