Also, the Chamber is busy preparing for the Fifth Annual Tyrone Community Night at the Altoona Curve, scheduled for August 17, with game time beginning at 7:05 p.m.

Some of the entertainment scheduled for the evening includes: pre-game entertainment, “God Bless America” sung by Tyrone’s own Dave Kaup, first pitch, between inning activities, birthday announcements and fireworks after the game.
Finally, the Eighth Annual Tyrone Area Business and Career Expo is scheduled for Thursday, October 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Tyrone Area High School gymnasium.
The purpose of the event is to showcase businesses and higher education institutions for the Tyrone Area High School grades 9-12, Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce members and the Tyrone community. The Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce Business-After Hours will follow the Expo from 4-6 p.m.
A morning hospitality bar along with lunch will be provided in the high school restaurant for a fee. Exhibit tables, chairs and limited electricity will be available; however, participants would need to provide their own skirting for the tables.
Registration fee is $50, excluding educational or non-profit organizations.
A $250 scholarship, from the event proceeds, is awarded each year to an outstanding graduating senior who plans to further his/her education pursuing a career in business. The 2006-07 scholarship was awarded to Kimberly Cherry. Kimberly is furthering her education at Penn State University-Altoona, in Business Management.
Past participation has aided in the continued growth and improvement of this event. The Chamber hopes everyone will plan to attend and contribute toward the success of the 2007 Expo.
The Daily Herald will again publish the Business Directory for the Expo. Businesses will be contacted by Herald representatives with information regarding an ad in this directory.
