There was a Mexican fiesta at the Tyrone Social Center last evening.
Cinco de Mayo is known for its party-like atmosphere, and with this in mind, Tyrone Community Partnership offered a Mexican-American meal surrounded by a party atmosphere.
Food stations included: fajitas, tacos, nachos, lime chicken, rice, Southwestern chili, fried ice cream and drinks.
Special Mexican entertainment and music was provided by Grier School students. Tyrone Key Club members helped with serving the meal. There was also a pinata and raffle.
The Cinco de Mayo event is one of the numerous functions Tyrone Community Partnership has held at the social center so far this year, along with the Valentine’s dinner and St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
Ray Liddick, president of the Partnership, added that for the upcoming summer months, area individuals and organizations are expressing interest in holding various events at the social hall, such as wedding receptions, class reunions and auctions.
For more information about upcoming events at the social center or to reserve a date, visit the web site at www.tyronecommunity.org or contact Liddick at ray@tyronecommunity.org.
