A Tyrone man was seriously injured in a four vehicle accident on Monday afternoon in Snyder Township.
Twenty-three year-old Clinton Sims was hurt after being ejected from his vehicle during the incident which happened on Route 220, north of the Bald Eagle intersection, shortly before 4 p.m. on Monday.
Sims’ pick-up truck was stopped in the north bound lane attempting to turn left into a driveway when he was struck by a truck operated by 21-year-old Jason Slater of Clymer. Slater was also traveling north on the road.
After the impact, both of the vehicles traveled into the southbound lane and hit a mini-van operated by 45-year-old Karen Gigliotti of Gibsonia. Slater’s 18-wheeler continued across the road and struck a tree. A vehicle operated by 35-year-old Richard Pfiester of Altoona was struck by debris from the tractor trailer truck.
Slater and Pfiester were not injured. However, a passenger in Slater’s truck, Greg Wissinger of Clymer, did suffer minor injuries. Gigliotti also suffered minor injuries. Three passengers in her vehicle also sustained minor injuries according to the state police release.
Everyone except Sims was wearing a seat belt when the accident happened according to the report.
