Area state police reports
A two-vehicle accident on Interstate 99 in Snyder Township on Aug. 6 at 5:45 p.m. caused damage to both vehicles.
The incident occurred at 5:45 p.m. about a mile-and-a-half north of the Tyrone exit in Snyder Township. Twenty-one year-old Joshua J. Frone of Hackettstown, NJ was traveling north on the interstate in the right lane of travel. A vehicle operated by Gary D. Brumbaugh of New Enterprise was also traveling in the same direction in the right lane.
While traveling up the hill, Brumbaugh’s pick-up truck came up behind a dump truck which was traveling below the speed limit with its four-way flashers on.
Brumbaugh began to slow down for the truck. Frone failed to notice this, and his car hit the rear end of the truck with its front end.
Frone and Brumbaugh were both wearing seat belts and were not injured. A passenger in Brumbaugh’s vehicle, 51-year-old Barb Brumbaugh of New Enterprise was also wearing her seat belt and was not injured.
Both vehicles sustained moderate damage.

State police reported a vehicle fire at the Interstate 99 north bound exit ramp in Bald Eagle at 11 p.m. on Aug. 6.
A Brookville man, 51-year-old Gary L. Miller, was driving north when he looked in the mirror of his truck and saw that a fire had started in the camper he was towing. He pulled to the side of the road and exited the vehicle.
Miller was unable to get to the extinguisher in the camper and it became engulfed in flames and was listed as a “complete loss.” The truck sustained minor heat damage. Miller was not injured.
The blaze was put out by Tyrone and Bald Eagle fire personnel.
