The Kiwanis Club of Tyrone announced that it would be collecting coats and boots for the Salvation Army Coat and Boot Drive on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Kopp Drug in Tyrone.
All area residents of the Bellwood, Tyrone and Warriors Mark communities who have coats they no longer need are asked to drive up to the Kopp Drug parking lot on Saturday and donate these coats and boots.
Individuals don’t even need to get out of their vehicles, as members of the Tyrone Kiwanis Club will be on hand to unload the coats and place them into a truck donated by Healthy Alternatives of Tyrone.
Children’s coats and boots are always needed in all sizes. All coats and boots collected will be used exclusively for the local needy families in the Tyrone Kiwanis Club service area to assist in the upcoming winter months. The Kiwanis wanted to stress that all of the coats and boots collected will go towards local families and will not leave this local area as long as there is a family in need.
In addition, the Tyrone Kiwanis Club announced they would also be taking donations of new toys to be distributed to local families during the upcoming Christmas holiday season. These toys may be dropped off on Saturday at the Kopp Drug parking lot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or given to any Kiwanis Club member from now until December 1.
There will be several toy collection dates in the upcoming weeks. Watch for these additional dates and drop-off points. Finally, the Tyrone Kiwanis Club wants area residents to know the toys collected here will be used to support the families in the Tyrone Kiwanis Club service area only and not go to outside areas.
The Tyrone Kiwanis Club members want to thank the local residents for the outstanding response they have provided in the past for the drives. The Club knows the local community will come through again this year for local families and friends.
