Carrie Catherine (Zerby) Jones, 98, formerly of 139 West Main Street, Allensville died Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 1:42 a.m. at The Hearthside, State College.
She was born January 18, 1909 in Allensville a daughter of Blaine E. and Margaret Ellen (Bordell) Zerby.
She married Arthur Jones on February 21, 1928. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1959.
Surviving are children: Catherine Bedlyon and her husband Hayden of Lewistown; George H. Jones and his wife, Grace of State College; William E. Jones and his wife Dolores of Tipton; Pauline Weaver of McAlevy’s Fort; Vivian David of Orrstown; Marian Keller and her husband David of McAlevy’s Fort and Betty Jane Garner of Camp Hill. Also, 26 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son: James A. Jones and two grandsons: Kenneth Robert Jones and Gary Lynn David.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by one sister, Vivian.
Mrs. Jones was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Allensville. She was a life member of the Baileyville Grange No. 1991 and a member of Women of the Moose in Bellefonte for many years.
She retired from the housekeeping department at Penn State University and also worked as a domestic in the State College area for a number of people.
She attended the Allensville schools and enjoyed playing cards and her gardening.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home in Huntingdon with Pastor Dan Morris.
Burial in Allensville Presbyterian Cemetery, Allensville.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. on Monday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of services on Tuesday.
Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
