Warren E. ‘Cuss’ Hample, 81, of Bellwood died Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Altoona Center for Nursing Care.
He was born June 1, 1926 in Bellwood, a son of the late Lewis M. and Eva J. (Moore) Hample. He married Joan Wilson on November 25, 1960 in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving are his wife; son, Robert L. of New Cumberland; daughter Kathleen A. Weimer and husband, Steven of Altoona RD4; grandchildren: Kelley A. and Scott Allen Weimer; sister, Dolly L. Hollen of Bellwood; and many nieces and nephews.
Cuss was a 1944 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School and attended Penn State, Altoona Campus.
Warren and his sister both served on the Army during World War II. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and participated in the campaign of the Philippine Islands receiving a bronze star and purple heart.
He retired as Secretary/Treasurer for the Borough of Bellwood after 22 years of service.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood. He was a member of the Tyrone Lodge F & AM, Altoona Consistory and Jaffa Shrine.
Cuss enjoyed photography, fishing, reading and traveling through scenic Pennsylvania. He was an avid Penn State and Steeler football fan and a New York Yankee fan.
Cuss loved his dog, Sam.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 16 and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17 at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Robert Ludrowsky and Rev. Robert Kennedy officiating.
Interment at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
In remembrance of Cuss, donations may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood or the Bellwood-Antis Public Library.
