The Tyrone-Snyder Public Library is looking for individuals interested in learning to tell stories.
Story-telling is as old as the world itself. Everyone has heard stories from the time they were very small children and still do as adults. Everyone loves to hear all kinds of stories. Some are scary, some are about family and friends, some are fairy tales, some are about famous people and some are far from true. But stories are fun.
The Altoona Story League would like to make sure the art of storytelling stays alive and well in every community. Therefore, they are proposing to start new storytelling groups in seven communities in Blair County.
Each group would have their own name, meeting place and time, and organization but would share a common name of the Blair County Story League. All groups would come together twice a year.
Hopefully, interested individuals will help the library to do just that. The Tyrone-Snyder Public Library wishes to sponsor a group and needs six people, men and women, to start. A list has already been started with five people signed up. The library only needs one more person to qualify.
Call the library at 684-1133 to express interest. Several members from the Altoona Story League will attend the meetings to give as much guidance, support and encouragement as needed.
The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 1 at 1 p.m. at the library. Those unable to attend this meeting should call to be added to the list. Meeting times can be adjusted.
