Virginia M. Lewis Gorby, 65, formerly of 311 60th St., Altoona, died early Sunday morning, Jan. 2, 2005 at Valley View Home, Altoona after a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 21, 1939 in Tyrone, a daughter of the late Samuel W. and Edna C. (McNeal) Lewis, Sr.
She is survived by five children: Jody Lynn Lewis-Gebhart and her husband Jody, Walter K. Noel, Candy Lee Noel and (Francis), Cindy Ann Taddy and husband Mike, all of Altoona and Barbara Ann Kirby and her husband Craig of Duncansville.
And, special friend Bob of Altoona.
Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A sister, Mina L. Yaudes, Tyrone and a brother Samuel W. Lewis, Jr., RD 1, Tyrone.
She was preceded in death by a son Samuel W. Gorby, two grandchildren, a brother, William C. Lewis and an infant sister, Mary Ellen Lewis.
She was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School in 1957 and a graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce in 1977.
She was retired on disability as an invoice and payroll clerk from Ames Department Store, Tyrone after 10 years service.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005 at 11 a.m., at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone.
Interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery, Snyder Township.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. before the service.
