Area state police reports
State police investigated an arson and the recovery of a stolen vehicle in Antis Township in mid-December.
A 1999 Dodge Intrepid Sedan belonging to Reginald Antonio Green was reported stolen to the Logan Township Police Department. It was located in Antis Township around 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 15, 2004.
The vehicle was found at the end of a private driveway against a tree along Bell-Tip Road. The interior of the vehicle had been damaged by fire. It appeared that someone attempted to set the car on fire and push it over an embankment. The car did not go over the embankment because it drifted into a tree and the interior fire flamed out.

Three people escaped injury in a two-vehicle accident on State Route 350, Spring Mountain, Warriors Mark Township on Dec. 16, 2004 at 7 a.m.
The crash occurred when a pickup truck driven by William Mitchell of Altoona was traveling south on the road. Mitchell lost control and slid into the oncoming lane of traffic and collided with a vehicle traveling north on the road operated by Sandra Berwager of Tyrone.
Mitchell was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt. A passenger in the vehicle, Kenneth Davis of Altoona, was also belted and was not injured. Berwager was wearing a seat belt and escaped injury.

A residence in the village of Grazierville, Snyder Township was the scene of an attempted burglary around 12:30 a.m. in Dec. 17.
An unknown man attempted to gain entry into the residence of Gary Lee Weston of RR # 5, Tyrone. The man alerted the family dog, which began barking. The suspect then fled the scene after the dog acted up.

Huntingdon-based state police report a two-vehicle accident on Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. on State Route 350, 50 yards north of Huntingdon Furnace Road in Warriors Mark Township.
A pickup truck operated by 37-year-old Thomas Gutshall of Altoona was traveling south on the road and rounded a curve, the vehicle started to slide in a clockwise direction and went off the road backwards. Gutshall’s truck struck a guiderail and then flipped over, the roof struck a large tree and the vehicle came to rest on its side against the tree.
The press release said Gutshall was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. His vehicle was totaled.

An unidentified white man was involved in a hit and run accident on Dec. 18 at the Parkways Drive Apartments parking lot in Antis Township.
A white SUV backed into a parked and unattended vehicle and struck the left rear tail light area. The SUV then left the scene.

A Tyrone area woman reported she was harassed by a man known to her when he called her residence on Teaberry Street in Snyder Township shortly after midnight on Dec. 21, 2004.
Susan Denise Smith told authorities the man directed obscene language at her during the call.

A Warriors Mark Township man suffered moderate injuries in a one vehicle accident on Ridge Road in Warriors Mark Township on Dec. 21 at 9:40 a.m. Nineteen-year-old Joseph C. Eyer was traveling north on the road when his pickup truck struck a utility pole off the north bound berm.
Police said Eyer’s’ airbag was deployed and he was wearing a seat belt. His vehicle had major damage and had to be towed from the scene.
