The Central PA Wolves Ice Hockey team dropped a tough 2-0 game to the Greensburg-Salem Lions at the Kirk-Nevin Arena in Greensburg on Monday night.
The Greensburg-Salem team scored the only goal of the game in the opening period. After that Wolves’ goalie Fred Dorman (Bellwood-Antis) was inpenetrable in the net. Greensburg-Salem pushed the second goal into an empty net in the final minute after Central PA took Dorman out of goal out to try to add morte scoring punch in an effort to tie the score. The Lions fired shot after shot at the Wolves net, with Dorman performing the masterful task of stopping all but one of 39 shots on goal. The Wolves were able to muster just four shots on goal against Greensburg-Salem.
Central PA drops to 1-1 on the 2004-05 season, while Greensburg-Salem improves to 2-0.
The final rtegular season game before the Dean Patterson Tournament for the Central PA Wolves will be on Thursday, Nov. 18, at 8:10 p.m. vs Ligonier Valley at Galactic Ice in Altoona.
The Wolves’ first varsity game of the Dean Patterson Tournament will be Monday, November 22 at 8:40 p.m. against the Altoona varsity. The Wolves varsity lost a three-overtime 4-3 decision to Hollidaysburg in the finals of last years’ Dean Patterson.
The next regular season game will be Dec 1, which is after the Dean Patterson Tournament.
The Central PA Wolves are in their third season and represent area schools who have no ice hockey team. The Wolves represent the following school districts: Allegheny County (Maryland), Bald Eagle Area, Bellwood-Antis, Blacklick Valley, Cambria heights, Central/Spring Cove, Chestnut Ridge, Huntingdon, Penn Cambria, State College, Tyrone, Tyrone HE (Home educated) and Windber.
