The Hollidaysburg Area YMCA previously announced that Y Aquatic programming will be held at the Tyrone Area High School.
Offerings include aquatic fitness classes, swimming lessons and opportunities for the whole family to enjoy the pool.
Water aerobics will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This is an enjoyable form of exercise for everyone, even non-swimmers. It uses the natural resistance and buoyancy of water to provide a low impact exercise that is fun, effective and stress reducing. The cost for this class is $25 per session.
Youth and adult swim lessons will also be provided at the high school. These classes provide a relaxed and calm approach to lead participants to achieve swim success. Classes are held Monday and Wednesday from 7:30 to 8 p.m. and cost $25 per session.
The YMCA will also present a class called “One, Two and You”, their skippers program that is designed for children ages one and two with parent participation. Songs, games and safety awareness make this class both fun and instructional. One, Two and You will be held Tuesday and Thursday from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m.. Cost is $20 per session.
Preschool Swim, a developmental and progressive swimming program for children age six and under, gradually acquaints youngsters with the enjoyment of swimming. Cost for the class is $25 per session. It will be held Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 6:45 p.m.
An instructional swimming program for children ages six to 12, known as progressive swim lessons, is designed to introduce the beginner swimmer to basic skills necessary for swimming and to advance them gradually through the skill levels until they can perform the different strokes and techniques of an accomplished swimmer. Progressive swim lessons will be held Tuesday and Thursday from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. with a cost of $25 per session.
Another offering from the Y is lap swimming. Lap swim will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. This is restricted use of the pool for anyone who wishes to swim lengths. An eight-pass punch card is available for $12.
There will also be buddy/family swim time. This is a wonderful and fun way to burn off energy and calories. Children nine years and older can swim with a friend. A parent or guardian must be in the pool to accompany children under age nine. Buddy/family swim will be held on Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. An eight visit punch card is available for $8.
All sessions will begin Tuesday, March 1 and run through Thursday, March 24. Registration will take place tomorrow from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Tyrone Area High School pool or by calling the Hollidaysburg Area YMCA at 695-4467. A credit card is needed when registering by phone.
