Mrs. Myrtle Ellen Pyles, age 94, a guest at Epworth Manor since September 1988 and formerly of Alexandria, died Friday, March 18, 2005 at 8:45 p.m. at the Manor. She was born December 8, 1910 in Preston County, W. VA the daughter of Emi and Amanda Severe Teets. She was married to Raphael Pyles who preceded her in death May 12, 1974. She is survived by one daughter, Ann, wife of Ray Clark of RD1 Tyrone, two sons Howard Eugene Pyles of Bucyrus, OH and Clarence and wife Betty Pyles of KY; five grandchildren: Cathy Crowell, Baltimore, Thomas Burns, Fairmont, W. VA, Patty Thomas, Montrose CO, Rusty Pyles, OH, and Lori Looker, OH; six great-grandchildren: Kimberly Yarworth, Baltimore, Sue Thomas, Baltimore, Bryan Thomas, CA, Carolyn Thomas, CA, Alvin Crowell, Baltimore and Tarra Looker, OH; five great-great-grandchildren: David Stevenson, Alex Moog, Chelsea Yarworth, Deja Thomas and Jeda Thomas. Also surviving are two step-sisters, Beatrice and Martha Jane and one step brother Frank. She was the last of her immediate family having been preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
She had been employed as a sales clerk at various stores in West Virginia.
Funeral service for Myrtle Ellen Pyles were held Monday, March 21, 2005 at 10 a.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Vance Hart of the Spruce Creek United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery in Aurora, W. VA. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Library Fund of Epworth Manor, c/o Ann Clark, 951 Washington Ave., Tyrone, Pa 16686.
