The Tyrone Hospital Auxiliary donated $5,000 to Tyrone Hospital to support the operation of the Care Car.
Jane Morrissey, President of the Tyrone Hospital Auxiliary, said the Care Car provides complimentary transportation to Tyrone area residents for doctor’s appointments and visits to Tyrone Hospital for testing and procedures.
“This is a hospital service that the Auxiliary has supported for many years because it is a valuable service for our community,” she added.
In 2004 alone, more than 2,000 passengers utilized the Care Car service. Each year, the Auxiliary raises funds through a variety of activities to support the Care Car as well as other hospital projects and services.
Mrs. Morrissey said the Auxiliary appreciates the support they receive from the community for their various projects.
Walter S. Van Dyke, CEO at Tyrone Hospital, said many people in the community rely on the Care Car service to get to their healthcare appointments.
“We are honored to have the support of our Auxiliary,” he said. “We are able to provide the Care Car service because of their contributions.”
