With joy, enthusiasm and gratitude, Pastor TM Talbot-Moses presented a check for $5,600 to the Blair County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
The funds were raised through the Tyrone area “Time of Love and Sharing” effort to aid the victims of the disastrous tsunamis.
Pastor TM Talbot-Moses, who spearheaded the project, started the local effort in early January and indicated that it would continue through Valentine’s Day.
“However,” she said, “funds kept coming in and we are just now comfortable closing the account since we feel everyone who wished to contribute has had the opportunity to do so.”
She also explained that “one hundred percent of these funds will go directly to aid tsunami victims, according to information received from local Red Cross representatives.”
“I am thrilled, almost overwhelmed, with the local response,” Pastor TM said. “Such generosity from our local people is heartwarming and will help purchase and provide items most desperately needed by tsunami victims.
“Thank you to the many, many individuals who contributed to this fund. Our community is playing an important part in the relief effort. We can be proud of the amount raised and be pleased that we will have a role in helping these unfortunate victims,” she concluded.
