Robert D. Ayers beat out Ray Rodgers and James Burket in the Republican candidate race for six-year-term Snyder Township supervisor.
“I’m really happy that I made it through,” said Ayers. “I want to thank all the people that supported me in this.”
He added, “I’d like everyone to know that I’ll listen to anybody. I think that’s something a supervisor should do.”
Ayers began working with the people of Snyder Township in April of 2004 when he took on the role of code enforcement officer.
For the last year, Ayers has also served on the Snyder Township planning commission.
Ayers told The Daily Herald this morning that one of his goals is to focus on completing the township’s comprehensive plan by the end of the year.
Republican James L. Miller received more votes than Bernard Sherwin to make him the Republican candidate in the race for two-year-term supervisor.
Miller will face Democrat Warren (Buddy) Daughenbaugh, Jr., in November.
Miller told The Daily Herald this morning that he wants to thank everyone for “showing the kind of confidence in me to vote the way they did.”
He added, “I think we’ll have a great team going into the next couple of years and accomplish great things.”
In November of 2004, after the death of Jim Daughenbaugh, Snyder Township supervisor for many years, Miller was appointed by the two remaining supervisors to serve for the first year of the three years remaining on Daughenbaugh’s term.
At the January reorganization meeting, Miller was named vice-chairman of the board of supervisors and was also appointed Road Master.
Also, Republican Gail E. Burket was voted through as the four-year-term candidate for tax collector.
She was born and raised in Snyder Township. She and her husband, James, have a family business, Burket’s Auto Repair, located in the township. Together, they have a daughter, Nichole, and two sons, Justin and Drew.
In 2003, she worked for Nancy Kilmartin, Snyder Township tax collector, helping with taxes and office duties.
