Guy R. Gensimore, 80, formerly of Alexandria, and a resident of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home for the past 15 years died at the home Saturday evening, June 11, 2005.
He was born at Union Furnace, Huntingdon Co. a son of Milton F. and Ethel V. (Brindle) Gensimore.
He is survived by five sisters and two brothers: Gladys (Floyd) Lamey of Loganton; Mary (Donald) Waltz of Petersburg; Marjorie (George) Carper of RD1 Tyrone; Luellen (John) O’Malley of Geneva, N.Y.; Gloria (Thomas) McCool of Petersburg; Ronald C. (Betty) Gensimore of Altoona and Milton D. (Darlene) Gensimore of Alexandria and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters: Georgie Gensimore; Florine Fike and Shirley Mertiff.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He always worked on the family farm and enjoyed gardening.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Rev. James L. Blair officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday, one hour before the time of service.
