Mr. Charles R. Pote, 69, of 1000 N. 3rd Street, Bellwood, died Monday morning, June 20, 2005 at Altoona Regional Health Systems, Altoona Hospital Campus.
He was born in New Enterprise, the son of J. Alton and Lena (Settlemeyer) Pote. He married Jean Weitzel, August 1, 1959 at Martinsburg. She died December 22, 2001.
Surviving is a daughter, JoLane Whiteford and husband Thomas E. of Bellwood; grandson Thomas Alton Whiteford; his parents of Roaring Springs and a sister, JoAnn Miller of Martinsburg.
He retired in 1995 as a business education teacher at Bellwood-Antis High School, with 36 years service.
He was an army veteran. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bellwood.
He was a member of the Bellwood F.O.E. and the Excelsior Volunteer Fire Company, Bellwood, where he was a member of the fire police. He was also a member of Central District Volunteer Firemen’s Association. He enjoyed cooking, gardening and music.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at the Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood, where a fire company memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2005 at the funeral home with Pastor Alan Brumbaugh officiating.
Interment at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Excelsior Fire Co. or the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bellwood.
