A 33-year-old rural Tyrone man was involved in a two-vehicle accident on June 9 at 4:55 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 4018 and T-481 in Antis Township.
Jeffrey Ray Thompson was traveling south in an SUV on 4018 while a Mack truck tractor trailer driven by Dale Duane Murray of Frostburg, MD was traveling north.
As the tractor trailer began making a left turn to continue on 4018, the SUV approached the intersection and slid under the trailer part of the truck. After hitting the trailer, Thompson’s vehicle continued to travel under the rear tandem of the truck.
When it hit the tandem, the SUV did a 180-degree turn and came to rest on the west side of State Route 4018.
Thompson suffered minor injuries. It was unknown if he was wearing a seat belt.
Two passengers in Thompson’s vehicle, girls ages one and five also suffered minor injuries. Both were in child safety seats. All three victims were transported by Bellwood Ambulance to Altoona Hospital. The truck driver was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt.
