Gardner’s Candies (8-2) is out in front and threatening to runaway with the regular season championship after escaping a close contest with Ferguson Pest Control (4-6) by a score of 11-9 in eight innings. Elks (3-7) continued to be the upset-maker with a 15-12 shootout victory over Rick Day Construction (5-5)

Rick Day Construction scored five times in the second inning to open play in the early game and then added four in the third and another in the top of the fourth to jump out to a big 10-0 lead over Elks, only to have Elks put 10 on the board to tie the game in a hurry in the bottom of the fourth. Elks shut out Rick Day in the top of the fifth and then went right back to business with five more scores in the bottom of the frame to take a 15-12 shootout.
Derrick Emigh, Josh Loose Derek Dasher and Jared Shaffer each had two hits for Elks and Andrew Warrender scored three runs to lead a 11-hit attack in a loosely played contest that featured 10 errors between the two teams.
Jeremy Miller had two hits for Rick Day Construction and Matt Myers, Ian Murray, Richard Crabtree and Nick Patton all scored two runs each.

Gardner’s Candies 11 Ferguson’s Pest Control 9
The late game on June 7, went into extra innings before a winner could be determined. Gardner’s Candies scored twice in the eighth inning to pull out an 11-9 triumph over Ferguson Pest Control.
Ferguson’s jumped out in front with six runs in the bottom of the first and two in the second, but Gardner’s Candies kept coming back, finally tying the contest with two tallies in the top of the fifth. Neither squad was able to score in the sixth and seventh innings to set the stage for Gardner’s two-spot in the eighth.
John Kimberling and Jacob Belinda led Gardner’s with three hits each, and the Candy company ripped five extra-base hits to lead the way. Kimberling, Belinda, Jordan Faretta and Tyler Osterhout had doubles and Corbin Nevling-Ray banged a triple.
Mark Roth had three hits for Ferguson’s and Korry Cowher, Johnny Romano and Joey Miller each had two hits. Cowher had a double and triple, Romano a double and Jesse Shaffer helped put his team in front early by blasting a two-run home run in the second inning.
Johnny Kimberling struck out nine and walked three over the final five innings to get the win for Gardner’s. Johnny Romano took the loss for Ferguson’s pitching the eighth inning, striking out three and not walking a batter.
